Can You Recharge Your Green Energy in Seoul? Let’s Go on a Picnic!

October 1, 20258 min read

Recommended parks in Seoul and things to experience at the park.

As you travel through Seoul, you'll be surprised by unexpected moments. While it may seem like there are only dazzling shopping malls, endless streets, and nightly city lights, this city is actually full of hidden green spaces. At Hangang Park, where the river breeze blows, locals cook ramen on mats. Along the Gyeongui Line Forest Path in Yeonnam-dong, people stroll along the old railroad tracks and stop at cafés for coffee. At Seoul Forest, you can feed deer and feel close to nature. In the fall, Sky Park offers the perfect photo opportunity amidst endless fields of silver pampas grass.

These experiences are more than just "park strolls"; they embody the lifestyle of Seoulites. Busy weekday locals flock to parks on weekends for picnics. Come evening, sitting along the Han River bank, drinking beer, and gazing at the city's nightscape has become a defining Seoul scene.

If you want to experience Seoul differently, pack a picnic mat and some snacks in your bag this time. You may not be familiar with the idea of picnicking in Seoul, but you'll soon be immersed in the leisure and healing this city offers. As you follow the list of parks I'll introduce, you'll have a perfect day mapped out in your mind—knowing where to go and how to spend your time.
